The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark rate by a quarter point to 2%-2.25%, its third hike this year. Spot gold slipped 0.8% to about $1,196 an ounce as the greenback firmed.
Higher US rates strengthen the dollar and lift bond yields, which tends to weigh on dollar-priced commodities and make US exports dearer for overseas buyers. Feed markets should see firmer dollar pressure from this tightening.
