A USDA Economic Research Service analysis shows the US share of global wheat and corn exports has fallen since the start of the century, as Russia, Ukraine, Argentina and Brazil expanded output and exports. US wheat area has also shifted toward corn and soybeans.
The structural loss of US export share limits the upside for US wheat and corn prices, since competing origins set world prices and US sellers must compete on price.
