US soybean farmers are holding harvested beans in silos, bins and improvised storage rather than selling, hoping China returns to the market. Soybeans fetched $8.87 a bushel on the Friday cited, about $2 below pre-tariff levels.
Record production is straining storage and raising spoilage risk.
Farmer holding of unsold beans delays supply to the market and keeps cash prices depressed, though spoilage risk and the chance of a China deal could shift the balance quickly.
