A strike beginning November 16 has crippled the Chilean port of Valparaiso, with most terminals blockaded by casual workers. More than 20,000 containers had been diverted by the tenth day of the strike.
Revenue losses had reached $3.5 million at that point.
The strike mainly disrupts container and fruit flows, with little direct effect on feed grain or protein prices. It remains a logistics risk for Chilean trade routes.
