The rand firmed on Friday, ending its first week of the quarter more than 2% stronger, after US employment data showed jobs rising by 196,000 while wage growth slowed. The currency reached R14.02 per dollar, its best level since February 28.
Local stocks also gained on hopes of a US-China trade deal.
