Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Costa Rica and Colombia asked the EU to suspend its biofuel sustainability measure at a WTO Goods Council meeting on April 15. The European Commission replied that the measure aims to cut transport carbon and bans no specific biofuel.
The dispute keeps uncertainty over EU palm oil biofuel demand alive, which weighs on palm oil prices, though no immediate change in the measure has occurred.
