USDA reduced its corn-for-ethanol projection by 150 million bushels since the September WASDE, now at 5.5 billion bushels. Corn use for ethanol was down 4% in the first half of the marketing year, and the author expects continued weakness before summer driving season.
Lower ethanol grind reduces corn demand and co-product DDGS output is expected to stay ample, which is bearish for corn and DDGS prices unless gasoline demand or exports strengthen.
