USDA data show Mexico remains the top buyer of U.S. corn, at 8.59 million metric tons, up 26.3% year-over-year, and the top buyer of U.S. DDGS, at nearly 978,000 tons, in the first six months of the 2018/2019 marketing year. Canada is the second-largest buyer of U.S. ethanol and has bought 1.18 million tons of U.S. corn, up nearly 77%.
Strong North American export demand supports corn and DDGS prices, and it underlines the value of duty-free NAFTA access while USMCA is pending.
