The offshore yuan weakened to its lowest since November on June 7, and the onshore rate breached 6.93 per dollar on June 10 for the first time this year. Analysts increasingly believe Chinese officials will not defend the 7 per dollar level, citing dovish PBOC comments.
A break through 7 per dollar would signal a sharp yuan depreciation that makes US farm exports more expensive for Chinese buyers and may further delay purchases, pressuring US soybean and feed grain prices.
