CME lean hog futures rose on Monday 19 August after a limit-down close the previous Friday. They then fell on 21 August as large daily slaughter of 482,000 head and seasonal weakness in pork bellies pressured cash hog and pork values.
Heavy slaughter levels and fading seasonal pork strength point to weaker cash hog and pork prices, limiting futures gains.
