The rupiah weakened against the US dollar on Friday morning to Rp 14,190 after US second-quarter GDP growth was confirmed at 2% year on year. Economists said the US economy still looked solid and showed no strong sign of recession.
A firmer dollar on solid US growth tends to pressure emerging-market currencies such as the rupiah, which affects the local cost of imported feed ingredients.
