Minneapolis Grain Exchange hard red spring wheat futures rose more than 50 cents in September after a poor Upper Midwest spring wheat crop. Excess rain in northwestern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota is hurting both quality and bushels.
Lower spring wheat quality and volume tighten milling-grade supply and raise costs for feed-grade alternatives, supporting wheat prices.
