India is appointing agricultural counsellors at embassies in 10 major import destinations to promote farm exports. The move follows a sharp first-quarter drop in exports of non-basmati rice, pulses and wheat, according to APEDA data.
Stronger Indian export promotion could eventually lift rice and wheat shipments, but the effect on near-term global prices is limited.
