Coceral estimates the 2019 EU grain harvest at about 308 million tonnes, slightly below the EU Commission's 313 million. The UK, Germany and France posted large gains over the weak 2018 crop, while Spain fell sharply because of drought.
A bumper EU harvest increases exportable supplies and tends to pressure wheat prices, although the Spanish shortfall limits the downside.
