CattleFax projects record-large US beef production in 2020, up about 2% to roughly 27.7 billion pounds, with harvest weights rising 10 pounds. It expects exports to rise 5% and imports to fall 5%, with trade absorbing much of the supply increase.
Expected export growth to China and Australian drought-driven demand could offset higher beef supply, supporting cattle prices and leverage shifting toward feeders.
