China's average pork price reached 51.21 yuan per kg, near last October's record of 54 yuan, according to Cofeed data. Coronavirus control measures disrupted pig transport and delayed restarts of slaughterhouses, tightening already scarce supplies after African swine fever cut the herd by over 40% last year.
Demand appears little affected by the curbs.
Tight Chinese hog supply and high pork prices sustain strong demand for imported pork and feed, supporting meal and grain demand while the herd remains depleted.
