A series of remote multi-industry round tables, launched by the Tropical Forest Alliance and facilitated by EFECA, is discussing European Commission action to curb imports of deforestation-linked commodities. Timber companies are among those invited, and sessions run April to June with outcomes shared with the EC.
EU moves toward deforestation-free import rules could eventually raise compliance costs for soy, palm oil and other feed-relevant commodities, but this is consultation only with no immediate price effect.
