Conab's seventh harvest survey estimates Brazil's 2019/20 first-crop corn area at 4.22 million hectares, up 2.8%, but average national yield is projected 4.2% lower than last season. Lack of rain in Rio Grande do Sul damaged productive potential, and second-crop corn planting has practically finished.
A lower Brazilian corn yield tightens export availability and supports corn prices against the US and Argentine supply.
