IFPRI modeling suggests COVID-19-related export restrictions on rice and wheat could significantly raise global prices. The analysis finds international rice markets are especially sensitive to restrictions by large exporters.
The findings highlight the upside price risk if major exporters extend curbs on staples, which would raise feed and food grain costs for importers.
