The Colombian peso fell 1.2% to its lowest in four weeks as weaker crude prices weighed on the oil exporter's currency. Oil dropped after U.S. Democrats criticized a $1 trillion coronavirus aid package proposed by Senate Republicans.
Markets also expected a 25-basis-point rate cut from the Colombian central bank later in the week.
Weaker crude and a softer peso can shift the cost of imported feed inputs and biofuel economics, while stalled US stimulus adds to fears of lower fuel demand.
