COVID-19 Disruptions in the U.S. Meat Supply Chain - Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City

A Kansas City Fed analysis describes how COVID-19 outbreaks at meatpacking plants from April to June closed or slowed many beef and pork facilities, cutting meat output. The disruptions created oversupply for livestock producers and higher retail prices, and shifts from foodservice to retail created logistical strain.

重要性

Lingering processing capacity shortfalls and shifting demand channels keep the spread between live cattle and wholesale beef volatile, affecting cattle and hog margins.
