Itafos reported that its Conda plant completed a reduced-scope turnaround in July with no environmental releases. It also disclosed a significant disruption in sulfuric acid supply from Rio Tinto's Kennecott smelter in Utah, which is delayed in restarting and is expected to be fully operational in about two months.
Sulfuric acid is a key input for phosphate processing, so reduced supply from the Conda plant could curb DAP output and support phosphate fertilizer prices.
