Analysis of U.S. customs data shows China's purchases of goods under the Phase One deal rose 25% in August versus June. Corn sales to China soared 513% and soybean sales rose 432% over the same period, though total commitments remain far from met.
Rapid buying lifts U.S. corn and soybean export demand, but a large gap to Phase One commitments leaves the risk that purchases slow if trade relations sour. Price support depends on whether buying is sustained into the U.S. election period.
