Northern Illinois farmers report yields above expectations despite a year of extremes, including spring flooding and a dry mid-to-late summer. One farmer says his crop went longer without rain than during the 2012 drought.
Yields are still strong though below potential on some fields.
Solid northern Illinois yields point to adequate Corn Belt supply, which is mildly bearish for corn and soybean feed prices. Local variability is not large enough to alter the national outlook.
