Indian rice exporters expect non-basmati exports of about 10 million tonnes this year, up from 5.04 million tonnes last year. Basmati shipments in the first half of the fiscal year rose 33 percent.
Indian prices are about 10 percent below rivals, drawing buyers from China and Bangladesh.
Large Indian export volumes at lower prices add supply to the world rice market and put downward pressure on competing origins. Buyers can expect competitive rice pricing from India.
