Peterson Farms Seed agronomist Rick Swenson says drought is not a major concern across much of the Upper Midwest because the previous three years were very wet. Drought-like conditions did develop in parts of the Dakotas in late summer.
Swenson says a dry spring would help timely planting.
Limited drought risk in the Upper Midwest reduces the weather premium on corn and soybeans for 2021. Dry conditions in the western U.S. remain a watch item.
