Brazil's main-season soybean planting started about two weeks late, and harvest delays are adding pressure on the safrinha window. Rainfall has been below normal across Mato Grosso, the largest safrinha producer, and the forecast for the first weeks of February is for below-normal rain.
A late, dry start to safrinha corn planting raises the risk of a shortened season and lower yields, which would tighten export supplies and support corn prices.
