The Mexican peso fell as much as 3.3% on Feb 25, its worst day in five months, leading Latin American currencies lower as rising bond yields and inflation expectations hit risk assets. Investors also reacted to a Mexican congressional bill increasing state control of the electricity market and to power disruptions from the Texas freeze.
Weaker Latam currencies, especially the peso and real, make Latin American exporters' dollar-priced grain and oilseed sales cheaper in local terms, which can support export selling but also raises import costs for feed buyers in the region.
