The US Cattlemen's Association called for an immediate halt to beef imports from Namibia after recent foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in the northern infected zone. The group argues that buffalo and wildlife can cross the veterinary fence and put domestic herds at risk.
Calls for a halt on Namibian beef imports are a minor trade issue, since Namibia is a small US beef supplier, but FMD concerns could affect broader beef trade sentiment.
