AgRural reported that 39% of Brazil's safrinha corn was planted in late February, compared with 67% a year earlier. In Mato Grosso, planting was 54.6% complete versus 92% last year.
Parana's safrinha planting was 11% complete, its slowest pace in 14 years.
Most of the safrinha crop is planted outside the ideal window, which raises the risk of yield losses and supports corn prices for feed buyers.
