Nagaland's Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services confirmed an African swine fever outbreak in Phek and Kiphire districts through RT-PCR testing. A 1 km infected zone and 10 km surveillance zone were declared around the outbreak epicentres.
This is a local outbreak in a small Indian state with limited effect on global feed or meat trade, though it reflects continued ASF spread in Asia.
