India exported a record 19.8 million tonnes of rice and wheat in FY21, with non-basmati rice exports more than doubling to an all-time high of 17.7 MT. Wheat exports rose to 2.1 MT, the highest since FY15, as overseas prices were attractive and domestic surplus was large.
Strong Indian export demand supports global rice and wheat prices, while the FAO cereal index at a multi-year high signals firm international feed grain costs.
