US milk prices have risen after nearly five years of low, stable prices. Butter demand may tighten because of US tariffs on EU imports, and skim milk powder exports have accelerated in late 2019 while inventories fell year over year.
Tighter butter and skim powder balances support dairy prices, but weaker consumer demand and a possible US recession could limit how far the rally can extend.
