FranceAgriMer reported 81% of French soft wheat in good or excellent condition in the week to 14 June, unchanged on the week and well above 56% a year earlier. Crops were about a week behind average growth, and winter barley harvesting had started in western France.
Strong French crop ratings point to a large harvest after last year's poor crop, which limits upward price pressure on wheat. Barley harvest timing will show how quickly new supply arrives.
