Egypt's state buyer GASC now allows wheat suppliers to bid directly and submit guarantees, under a tender book amendment seen by Reuters. The change follows GASC cancelling a wheat tender that drew only three offers because freight rates had risen with oil prices.
Looser shipping requirements aim to lower freight costs and attract more offers for Egyptian wheat tenders, which could ease pressure on wheat import prices.
