Indonesia set its September crude palm oil export reference price 13% higher at $1,185.26 per tonne, up from $1,048.62 in August. As a result, the export tax rises from $93 to $166 per tonne, while the export levy stays at $175 per tonne.
The reference price is the basis for calculating the export tax.
A higher export tax raises the cost of Indonesian palm oil exports, which can cut Indonesian export competitiveness and shift some buying to Malaysia. This supports Malaysian palm prices while weighing on Indonesian export flows.
