Sterling fell about 0.5% versus the dollar on 16 September after US August retail sales unexpectedly rose. Asian stock losses also weighed on sentiment.
Sterling had earlier gained on expectations of a Bank of England rate increase after UK inflation hit 3.2%.
Stronger US demand data supports the dollar, a mild headwind for dollar-priced commodities. The effect on feed markets is small.
