Grow Further describes a new online global livestock disease tracking system, which tracks recent outbreaks. Reported cases include avian influenza in several countries, lumpy skin disease in Thailand and Cambodia, classical swine fever in Brazil, and African swine fever in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The FAO launched its upgraded EMPRES-i+ platform on October 22.
Better early warning tools may speed detection and containment of livestock diseases, but the tool itself does not change supply. The disease activity it tracks is relevant to poultry and pork supply and feed demand.
