Mosaic's president said growing use of purified phosphoric acid in lithium iron phosphate batteries will reduce phosphate fertilizer supply over time. About 300,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid shifted from fertilizer to batteries this year, equal to about 500,000 tonnes of lost DAP, and China's exports are expected to fall.
Lower Chinese phosphate export availability tightens global DAP supply, which supports higher fertilizer prices and phosphate costs for feed mineral buyers.
