Indian farmers are holding soybeans after government measures pushed local soybean futures down to around 5,200 rupees in late October. Prices have since recovered to about 6,600 rupees, still more than a third below early August levels.
Farmer holding and reduced Indian soybean supply can support local prices, while government price-suppressing measures limit import demand for soybean products.
