The North Carolina State Climate Office outlook says a moderate La Niña is developing for the 2021-22 winter, with sea surface temperatures forecast to peak about 1°C below normal. The office notes that last year's La Niña did not bring the expected warm, dry conditions to North Carolina.
A moderate La Niña raises the risk of dryness in South America's crop regions later, but this North Carolina outlook is regional and says little about feed grain supply or prices. Its direct price impact is minimal.
