An AgWeb outlook expects the US Cotton Belt to plant about 12 million acres in 2022, up from 11.2 million in 2021, with the figure depending on La Niña dryness. Cotton hit $1.21 per pound in November 2021, and December futures are trading near 90 cents.
Higher cotton plantings would increase cottonseed output, adding supply to cottonseed meal, a feed ingredient, while La Niña dryness in Texas could cut yields.
