Rising output from producers taking advantage of expensive crude has eroded spare capacity that normally buffers the oil market against sudden shocks. Analysts warn this raises the risk of price spikes or fuel shortages.
With little spare capacity, any supply disruption could spark sharp crude rallies, raising energy and freight costs for feed makers and supporting vegetable oil and biofuel demand.
