Grain-based ethanol producers in India are asking the government for dual pricing for maize and rice feedstock, citing differences in recovery rates. Oil marketing companies currently offer 52.90 rupees per litre to grain-based plants, and 196 grain ethanol projects have been approved.
Higher Indian grain-ethanol pricing and approved capacity could divert maize and rice away from feed use, supporting local grain prices and tightening feed-grain supplies.
