Pakistan's federal government decided on February 8, 2022, to design a subsidy mechanism for cheap DAP fertiliser ahead of the Kharif season, pending Finance Ministry approval. DAP is mainly imported, with FFBL supplying about 30% of consumption.
Offtake has fallen 17.7% against urea because of high prices.
A subsidy would support DAP demand in Pakistan and add to import requirements, though the effect on global prices is limited by the country's modest volumes.
