The US dollar has risen about 7% against a basket of currencies over the past year, reaching its highest level since March 2020. Expectations of aggressive Federal Reserve rate hikes to fight the highest inflation in nearly 40 years have supported the move.
A stronger dollar makes US commodity exports pricier for foreign buyers and tends to weigh on dollar-denominated grain and oilseed prices, while weakening importing currencies raises local feed costs.
