Russia's invasion of Ukraine has triggered a global scramble for diesel, pulling record volumes from the U.S. Gulf Coast. Waterborne diesel exports reached about 1.3 million barrels per day so far in April, on track for the highest monthly level since Vortexa began tracking in 2016.
U.S. distillate stocks have fallen to their lowest since 2014.
Tight distillate supply and strong export pull keep diesel costs high, which raises freight, fertilizer and feed transport costs for animal-feed buyers. Diesel strength also supports crude and energy-linked input costs.
