France's farm ministry expects 2022 soft wheat area of 4.79 million hectares, down 3.9% from 2021, while barley area rises about 4% and rapeseed area rises 18.4%. Sugar beet area is projected to fall 1.5%.

Lower French wheat plantings tighten the outlook for EU wheat supply, supporting European and world wheat prices, while higher rapeseed area adds to oilseed supply. Cold-snap damage risk adds upside pressure on prices.
