USDA's first 2022 national oat condition report produced an initial crop rating of 618, the lowest first rating since national ratings began in 1996. Cold, wet weather in the Upper Midwest and Northern Plains has delayed oat and other spring crop seedings.
A poor start to the oat crop and delayed planting in key growing areas point to reduced supply and firmer oat prices for feed buyers.
