Reuters reports that the U.S. wheat crop has been hit by a dry winter followed by a soggy spring. Chicago wheat had already surged about 50% to above $13.60 a bushel after Russia's invasion halted shipments of nearly a third of world wheat exports.
A smaller U.S. hard red winter crop adds to global tightness and supports wheat prices, especially for buyers who depend on HRW supplies.
